Pooping in the potty doesn’t have to be a challenge anymore.

Is Your Child Ready?

One thing to take into account when assessing potty training readiness is your child’s age. Additionally, you should begin to notice specific potty training signs which indicate that your youngster is ready to give potty training a go. Some of the things that a parent should assess include the child’s cognitive, social, and emotional development. Potty training signs are there- you just have to be looking for them.

Boys VS Girls

Furthermore, potty training readiness can be very different for boys and girls. You’ll know when to start potty training boys, because they might show interest in “wanting to go to the bathroom like daddy.” When this happens, a fun game to play is the “target game.” In this game, sprinkle a couple of cheerios into the potty, and encourage your son to hit the cheerios with the stream. This game is great target practice, and will keep your son wanting to try it over and over again.

Girls VS Boys

Knowing when to start potty training boys is a bit different then knowing when to start with girls. Furthermore, you should expect that your boy will take a little bit longer to potty train than a girl. Another fun game to play with your youngster involved setting up a sticker board. Each time your child ends up pooping in the potty, they can put a sticker on the board. Not only is this fun for both the parent and child, but it will allow the child to do something which makes him/her feel good about performing the desired behavior.

The Ups and Downs

Overall, potty training doesn’t have to be as unpleasant as most folks think it is. Potty training will consist of a series of ups and downs, but keep in mind that your child will become potty trained eventually. Remember, your youngster is bound to have a few accidents, so it’s very important not to overreach. Games, aids, rewards make potty training fun; and as long as you remember this concept, your potty training experience can be one of the most pleasant!
